WordPress powers a huge share of the world's websites for good reason: it is free, flexible, and you can manage your own content without a developer. Here is how to get it running on your hosting.
The fast way: ask the AI
On Want More Hosting, open the AI console in your control panel and type what you want in plain English:
"Install WordPress on shop.mybusiness.cm and set up SSL"
The assistant creates the website, provisions a database and user, installs the latest WordPress, issues an SSL certificate and emails you the admin login. It takes under a minute and you do not touch a single setting.
The traditional way: through your control panel
If you prefer doing it yourself — or you are on another host — the steps are:
1. Add your domain
In DirectAdmin or cPanel, go to Domain Setup and add the domain you want WordPress on. Make sure the domain's DNS already points to your hosting.
2. Create a database
Find MySQL Management or Databases. Create a new database, then create a database user with a strong password, then assign that user to the database with all privileges. Write down all three: database name, username, password.
3. Upload WordPress
Download the latest WordPress from wordpress.org, then use File Manager to upload the zip into your domain's public_html folder and extract it. Make sure the WordPress files sit directly in public_html, not inside a nested wordpress folder — unless you want the site at yourdomain.com/wordpress.
4. Run the installer
Visit your domain in a browser. WordPress will ask for the database details you created, then for your site title and admin account. Choose a strong admin password and avoid the username "admin".
5. Secure it
- Issue a free SSL certificate and force HTTPS.
- Delete the default "Hello World" post and sample page.
- Set permalinks to "Post name" under Settings → Permalinks (better for SEO).
- Install a security plugin and keep WordPress, themes and plugins updated.
What to do next
Choose a lightweight theme rather than a heavy multipurpose one — page speed matters for both visitors and Google. Install only the plugins you genuinely need; every extra plugin is more code to load and another thing to keep updated.
